Fill out a Change Form
The easiest approach to update your registered agent all year is to file a change form with the Montana Secretary of State.
This is possible via the Secretary of State’s Online Business Services website. This procedure includes the following steps:
Access your ePass Montana account.
From the “Business Services” menu, choose “Renew/Amend/Cancel A Business.”
Look for and choose your company.
Scroll down to “Registered Agent/Office Change by Entity,” then choose “Filing Actions.”
Fill in the blanks and submit the form.
There is no filing charge.
Send in an Annual Report
If your company’s Montana annual report filing date is approaching, you may take advantage of this filing to change your registered agent without having to complete extra paperwork. This is the most straightforward method of changing your registered agent, but it must be done during the filing time.
Make sure to include the information for your new registered agent on the report. Once you submit that report, your registered agent will be changed.
