A private investigation firm must have a Class A licence in order to function. A Class B Security Contractor License is required if your security firm will engage with guard services, alarm systems, courier services, armed guards, locksmith services, or closed-circuit video systems.

If your security firm will work with private investigators and security contractors, you must get a Class C licence. If you want to run a telematics firm, you’ll need a Class T. Class D is a hybrid of Class B and a security contractor. The application may take 6 to 8 weeks to be completed and the licence granted. The licence must be renewed on a yearly basis after it is granted.

When employing personnel, it is critical to verify that each individual is registered with the Texas Private Security Bureau before they are formally employed. Each employee’s registration must be updated on an annual basis.

Professional in Information System Security Certification (CISSP).

Specialist in Security Compliance Certification (CSCS).

Certified Project Manager for Security (CSPM).

Cisco Security Certified Professional (CCSP).

Professional in Global Industrial Cyber Security (GICSP).

Certification for Industrial Security Professionals (ISP).

The Difficulties of Starting a Security Company

When starting a private security firm, certain costs must be addressed. It is critical that you do research, feasibility studies, and market surveys to estimate expenses before developing a budget and exploring financing sources for your firm. Among the projected basic expenses are:
