In Washington, the cost of forming an LLC (limited liability corporation) online is $200. When submitting the LLC’s Certificate of Formation, this fee is paid to the Washington Secretary of State.

How Much Does a Washington LLC Cost?

The fee for filing a Washington LLC online is $200.

The major expense of forming an LLC is the $200 filing fee with the Washington Secretary of State for your LLC’s Certificate of Formation.

The annual report fee in Washington is $60.

LLCs in Washington must submit an annual report and pay a franchise tax with the Secretary of State.

This form may be submitted through the Washington Secretary of State’s website. It must be paid yearly by the end of the month in which the LLC is founded. Failure to file on time in Washington incurs a $25 penalty.

Fee for Registered Agent

You may be your own registered agent in Washington, but employing a registered agent service keeps your firm in compliance, informs you of critical filing dates, and helps you avoid late fines.

How Much Does it Cost to Form a Foreign LLC in Washington?

If you currently have an LLC established in another state and want to expand into Washington, you must register your LLC as a foreign LLC in Washington.

A Washington foreign LLC registration costs $200 online or $180 by mail. A foreign LLC may be registered in Washington by completing a Foreign Registration Statement. This may also be done via the mail.

Permits and Licenses for Businesses

Depending on your industry and geographic area, your company may need federal, state, and municipal permits/licenses to operate lawfully in Washington. This is true regardless of whether you create an LLC or another sort of company structure.

Other Fees for Filing an LLC

There are several extra costs involved with forming an LLC:

Initial Report: All LLCs are required to submit an initial report. If you register your LLC online, the first report is free of charge. If you register your LLC by mail, you may submit the first report either by mail or online for $10.

LLC Name Reservation: File a name reservation form and pay the $30 filing fee to reserve your name for up to 180 days prior to LLC creation.

Foreign LLC Name Registration: Foreign LLCs may register their names by submitting a foreign name registration form and paying the $30 filing fee.

DBA (Doing Business As) Name:
To register a trade name different than your official LLC company name, submit a Business License Application and pay the $24 filing fee. This may also be done via the mail.

Certified Document Copies: Order certified copies of your Washington business paperwork from the Secretary of State for $20.

Certificate of Existence: Also known as a Washington certificate of good standing, this document may be obtained by contacting the Secretary of State and paying the $20 cost. Banks and financial institutions often demand a proof of existence.
