How Do I Obtain an Alaska Certificate of Good Standing?

In Alaska, you may receive your certificate of good standing, also known as a certificate of compliance, by contacting the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development.

There are two major processes involved in obtaining your certificate of good standing:

1. Maintain your LLC’s compliance

2. Request a certificate of good standing.

Step 1: Ensure that your Alaska business is compliant.

To qualify for an Alaska certificate of compliance, your company must adhere to the following state compliance requirements:
Permits and Licenses

To run a company in Alaska, you must adhere to federal, state, and municipal licensing requirements. Regulations such as health permits and construction permits are examples of this.

The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development website has further information about state licensing requirements.
State levies

Depending on your company activity, you may be required to register for several types of Alaska state tax, such as Unemployment Insurance (UI).

Alaska has no state withholding or sales taxes.
Annual Reports

All Alaska companies and LLCs are required to submit a biannual report. This report outlines your company’s financial performance during the last two years.

Every two years, this report is submitted online with the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. The filing cost is one hundred dollars.

Step 2: Request an Alaska Certificate of Good Standing.

You may seek an Alaska certificate of compliance from the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development after your firm stays in accordance with the state. This may be done through email, mail, or fax.
